Chromebook: How to Split-screen to enable Multitasking

A split-screen configuration will make it simpler if you turn between windows and programmes all day long and you can do more work on the device.

On a Chromebook, you can configure it very quickly, and the machine can resize the window if done correctly.

Multitasking on a Chromebook is pretty simple thanks to many features, but not everybody is intuitive. One of the less apparent considerations for some users is how they can switch through a Chromebook screen view. However, coupled with other productivity-oriented features like overview mode – now that includes virtual desks and supports them – it is certainly worth taking the time to learn how to do it.

Here, we’re going to look at exactly how it’s done on a Chromebook or other Chrome OS computers.

This is what you’re going to have to do:

How to go split-screen on a Chromebook

1. Open your first app and click the window size reducer button in the top-right corner of the window.

Click on the window resizing button in the upper right corner.

2. Drag the window to either side of the screen — you’ll see a vertical line pop-up in the centre of the screen, at which point you should release the window so it can automatically fit into that half of the screen.

Drag your other window to the other side of the screen.

You can always go back to the typical window configuration by clicking the window-expand button in the top-right corner of either app window.

You now know how to use Chromebook split-screens! You can exit from this mode always by right-clicking the X in the upper section, or by pressing the full-screen windows on the Square icon. You can drag and down the tabs from one side to the other, or add the tabs by clicking the + icon in every window if you want to reorganise the tabs in the division screen mode.
