How long does it take to get coronavirus test results?
In India and around the world, with coronavirus cases continuing to rise and predictions that more individuals might become infected as we reach the flu season, there are plenty of concerns about who can test and how long it takes to find out the results.
Fortunately, many countries have streamlined coronavirus testing than in the early months of the pandemic, but the time taken for your results to be retrieved varies according to where you are going and which test is administered.
In most cases, you should know a timeframe to get the results of your coronavirus back, but that can be between hours and even a week or longer, especially if confusion about flu vs. coronavirus causes delays in the test results. It usually takes less than 24 hrs to get the results once you get tested for both RT-PCR/ Swab test OR Antibody test.

When should I be screened for coronavirus?
If you’ve been in touch with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, contact your doctor or local healthcare provider for more guidance. You will be asked to get a test or make an appointment immediately, depending on how long it is from exposure.
The CDC recommends getting a coronavirus test for the following reasons:
- If you’re experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
- If you’ve had close contact with someone — within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes — with a positive COVID-19 test.
- If you’ve been asked by your healthcare provider to get a test.
