The basic WHO guidelines for the general population in order to minimise the exposure to and transmission of a wide variety of illnesses are as follows.

  • Frequently clean your hands using the hand rub or soap and water-dependent based on alcohol;
  • When you cough and sneeze with flexed elbow or tissue, cover your nose and mouth – throw away your tissue and wash hands immediately;
  • Stop contact with people with fever and toxicity;
  • If you have fever, cough and trouble breathing, seek medical attention early and provide your healthcare provider with past travel histories;
  • Avoid immediate, unprotected, interaction with live animals and surfaces with animals while visiting live markets in areas with new coronaviruses;
  • The consumption of raw or undercooked animal products should be avoided. Raw meat, milk or animal organs should be handled with care, to avoid cross-contamination with uncooked foods, as per good food safety practices.

Learn these healthy habits to protect yourself from disease and prevent germs and infectious diseases from spreading.

1. Handle & Prepare Food Safely

  1. Food can carry germs. Wash hands, utensils, and surfaces often when preparing any food, especially raw meat. Always wash fruits and vegetables. Cook and keep foods at proper temperatures. Don’t leave food out – refrigerate promptly.

  3. Clean & Disinfect Commonly Used Surfaces
  4. Germs can live on surfaces. Cleaning with soap and water is usually enough. However, you should disinfect your bathroom and kitchen regularly. Disinfect other areas if someone in the house is ill. You can use an EPA certified disinfectant (look for the EPA registration number on the label), bleach solution, or rubbing alcohol.

  6. Get yourself checked with COVID-19 Antibody & RT-PCR test.
