To get a PAN card, you need to file on the e-filing portal and click on the ‘Instant PAN via Aadhaar.’ An Aadhaar number will be requested and an OTP will be sent to the mobile registered number. After validation of OTP, you will receive an e-PAN.

To get a new PAN card you don’t have to wait to fill in an application and it is processed in a couple of days. The IT department has already started a new facility in which anyone with an Aadhaar card can get a PAN card instantly online in a few minutes.

The applicant will obtain a Permanent Account Number (PAN) in a PDF format in just 5 minutes, while the e-PAN is as good as a physical copy.

  • To get a PAN card, one needs to go to the file e-filing portal
  • Click on the ‘Ínstant PAN through Aadhaar’, and then select ‘Get New PAN’.
  • You will be asked for an Aadhaar number and an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number.
  • After the validation of OTP, an e-PAN will be issued to you.

PAN Card is an essential document and therefore it is required in these five tasks:

  • Purchase of Real estate: If you plan to buy an immovable property that is in or above Rs 5 lakh, you will be required to have an Aadhaar card.
  • Credit card: PAN cards in a post office savings account must be included and are also provided for credit card and debit card applications.
  • Premium insurance: If today you deposit a life insurance premium, which exceeds Rs 50,000, then you must have a PAN card.
  • Transactions over Rs 50,000: If you file a refund, you need to connect both the PAN card and the Aadhaar card. PAN card is also required in cash for buying the bank bill, payment orders, or bankers cheque in excess of Rs 50,000 in one day.
  • For TD or FD: a PAN card is needed if you buy securities or mutual fund units worth more than Rs 1 lakh.
