A new system has been implemented by Reliance Jio to enable its customers to recharge their and others network account via mobile app, with a 4% commission.
The development is taking place at a time when many people can not recharge their phones because of the lockdown. Trai has pushed service providers during this period to extend the validity of all prepaid connections.
Reliance Jio has launched its Google Play store application JioPOS Lite, from where a customer can download and reload any subscriber’s phone on its network.
There is a Rs 1000 membership fee, but the company has withdrawn it as an initial offer. Jio customers who download this app will be required to load for the first time a minimum of Rs 1,000 and can subsequently download a minimum Rs 200 charge for sale.
Up to now, the app has recorded 5 Lacs downloads.
The source says Jio customers will have a convenient option to recharge their phones even if the shops aren’t open during the lockout period.
